After Gigaset introduced two smartphones to the masses last October with the GS3 and the GS4 a new edition for a special target group followed this February. With the GX290 Plus, Gigaset has revised the GX290 which is intended to withstand particularly high loads and is therefore aimed at outdoor and construction site users.
Gigaset GX290 Plus Review
The changes compared to the one and a half year old predecessor model are quite minor; According to the data sheet, only the memory expansion has been revised. The GX290 Plus is delivered with 4 instead of 3 GB RAM and the internal memory of the model grows from 32 to 64 GB. There are apparently no changes to other points such as the SoC, the camera or the battery, and the IP68 certification has also been adopted by the GX290.
Whether the slightly revised GX290 Plus can still hold its own with the technology offered in 2021, and for whom the smartphone, we clarify in the following test.
Scope of delivery
Gigaset limits the scope of delivery of the GX290 Plus to a fairly standard configuration. In addition to the smartphone itself, the company also includes a user manual, a key for the card compartment and a USB power supply unit with the appropriate charging cable. The charging cable is around 0.5 meters long and the power pack supports either 5 volts at 3 amps or up to 12 volts at 1.5 amps.
