On March 23, OnePlus presented its two newest smartphones OnePlus 9 Series. In addition to the OnePlus 9 5G, the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G is also part of this year’s lineup. We want to take a look at the technical highlights of the two upcoming smartphones.
2021 stands for innovations OnePlus 9 Series
The company itself has big plans for this year’s generation of its OnePlus smartphones. The focus is quite clearly on the completely redesigned camera. For years it was the company’s Achilles heel. Now the smartphone experts want to rely on a camera made in Sweden. The camera from the Swedish manufacturer Hasselblad is supposed to provide nice snapshots in the light and the dark. Apart from the camera performance, OnePlus has always been able to boast. This does not seem to change this year either. From the specs alone, it can already be seen that OnePlus does not have to hide behind the flagships from the house Apple or Samsung with its 9 series.
Hasselblad camera for great photos
This year OnePlus is clearly focusing on the camera. The same comes from the Swedish manufacturer Hasselblad and has already attracted a lot of attention. The camera manufacturer is by no means a blank slate – on the contrary. For example, the traditional Swedish company has already provided a camera for filming Neil Armstrong’s moon landing.
The camera module of the OnePlus 9 has a main camera with 48 MP, a wide-angle camera with 50 MP, and a telephoto and monochrome camera. When it comes to the interaction of the individual modules, OnePlus promises nothing less than groundbreaking results. The automatic color calibration should also ensure this.
High-resolution display with 120 Hz
OnePlus itself speaks of the so-called Fluid Display 2.0 in its latest generation. This measures 6.7 inches for the Pro model and 6.55 inches for the classic model and uses a high-contrast AMOLED panel. Thanks to a refresh rate of 120 Hz, you don’t have to deal with any stuttering when scrolling. AMOLED has always stood for breathtaking image reproduction. This seems to be the case this time too. In addition to the high contrasts, the OnePlus 9 should also be able to set new standards in terms of color accuracy. This means that it should be possible to reproduce photos that you have taken yourself in true detail and realistic colors.
Warp Charge 65T in OnePlus 9 series
OnePlus has shaped the charging of smartphone batteries like no other company. They were the first to make fast charging possible. Now they are taking it to a new level. With the help of Warp Charge, you should be able to fully charge the OnePlus 9 within 15 minutes. Warp Charge 65T makes it possible. But that’s only one way to charge the new smartphone.
The wireless alternative called Warp Charge Wireless 50 charges the smartphone from 0 to 70 percent within 30 minutes – also impressive. But all too often you won’t have to charge the battery anyway. OnePlus says that the new display should consume 50 percent less electricity than the predecessor. Given a refresh rate of 120 Hz, that sounds really impressive.
A lot of power under the hood
It goes without saying that the two new smartphones have 5G. But apart from the latest mobile communications standards, there are also other exciting specs to discover. That starts with the processor, of course. OnePlus makes no compromises and has given the OnePlus 9 the Snapdragon 888 5G from Qualcomm. This should ensure an increase in performance of a proud 25 percent compared to the OnePlus 8.
With the help of this power, Version 11 of OxygenOS should flicker across the screen as smoothly as never before. Another highlight of the equipment is the built-in support from Alexa. Owners of corresponding smart home products will certainly be happy about this. But Alexa should not only be used to control smart devices in the house. They can also be used to make calls and formulate messages.
Prices and availability
Are we really surprised that OnePlus has another hot iron in the fire this spring? With the 9th generation of its popular smartphones, the Chinese company seems to have shown great courage to innovate. This applies above all to the camera. For the OnePlus 9 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage space, the OnePlus requires an MSRP of 699 euros. For an MSRP of 799 euros, there is 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The OnePlus 9 Pro costs 899 euros with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. With 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space, the RRP is 999 euros.
